Logging and Log Retention Changes

/docs-archive/inventory/forms/ · last edited 22 Aug 2018 · Finance

On the 15th of September, we made significant adjustments to our logging and log retention system for the Polygon platform. The primary goal was to enhance the reliability of our server operations while ensuring that we do not exceed our storage capacity.

Previously, all logs were retained indefinitely, which led to frequent storage issues. We decided to implement a more robust log rotation mechanism that automatically purges old log files after a certain period, ensuring that we maintain a balanced environment. The new setup retains logs for a maximum of 30 days, after which they are compressed and archived, reducing the storage footprint without compromising on the critical data we need for troubleshooting and security purposes.

These changes not only help in managing disk space more effectively but also provide a clearer view of recent activities, aiding in quicker identification of issues and improvements in system stability for both the family and friends who rely on the Polygon server.
