Matrix Chat Server and Bridges - Meeting Notes

/docs-archive/old/infra-invoices/to-sort/monitoring-research/ · last edited 08 Jan 2023 · Finance

Today’s meeting focused on the Matrix chat server and bridges setup for the Polygon home server. The server is running on a single machine managed by a single administrator for family and friends. Decisions made during the meeting included the choice of using Element as the client for our Matrix chat experience and setting up the server to support both text and voice communications.

The primary bridge configured was the Twitter bridge, allowing users to interact with Twitter from within the Matrix chat interface. A secondary bridge to an external Matrix server was also discussed, with the aim of enabling more extensive feature access and potentially integrating with other family members' devices that might use different Matrix clients. The open questions revolve around the bridge setup for Telegram and the steps required to ensure data security and privacy for all users.
